Synopsis: Piggy Banks  tells the story of John and Michael Vanderslip, charming and brilliant brothers who finance their vagabond lifestyle by robbing and murdering pretty much anyone foolish enough to get in a car with them. But Michael (Gabriel Mann) is sloppy, reckless; he goes about his work with a psychopath’s glee. John (Jake Muxworthy), perhaps even more horrifyingly, understands the misery he inflicts. He simply doesn’t care. It’s just a job. Except the stakes are very high, and his partnership with Michael has become strained.

Through flashbacks we see how these two monsters came to be. They learned this business from their sociopath father (Tom Sizemore), frequently absent but always bearing gifts for his boys. Slightly used gifts, sometimes with someone else’s name on them. As they get older he doesn’t bother to hide his crimes, or the brutal philosophy which drives it. He tells his sons people are just piggy banks. You need money? Just break one open.

But Dad disappeared years ago, and now Michael is out of the picture too. John goes solo, and realizes just how empty and joyless his life is. Desperate for something to capture his interest, he gets his wish when he discovers that Dad had another family in another state, a wife and, more importantly, a child. A daughter. Gertie. John’s sense of purpose is renewed. He will find Gertie (Lauren German) and he will kill her.

It should be a very easy thing. But no plan of action survives contact with the enemy. It is John’s first real human connection, and it intoxicates him. He remembers what it feels like to want something. Gertie is beautiful, charming, and heart-wrenchingly elusive. And, in the end, she is a chip off the old block.
